Web Full Circle Partners with International House on Website Redesign

For the better part of a decade, Web Full Circle has been donating our services to the non-profit organization International House. Through the years, we have helped keep International House’s website fresh and current as website designs evolves.  We specialize in digital marketing, so building and maintain this awesome non-profit organization’s digital presence is near and dear to our hearts.

Thus, we are proud to announce our recent redesign of the International House website.  We are so excited to provide them with a beautifully updated website that truly showcases their incredible contributions to the Charlotte community.

What is International House?

International House is a non-profit organization operating in Charlotte, NC.  Founded in 1981, the organization started out as a meeting place for Charlotte’s small immigrant population.  Over the years, International House has grown and evolved.  While it may have started out small, it now assists thousands of people a year with a lot of different programs.

Many of the programs that International House offers assists immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers with aspects of relocating to the United States.  The goal is to help immigrants successfully transition to life in the United States, giving them the tools and confidence to become thriving members of the Charlotte community.  Here are just some of their many programs that International House offers.

What kind of programs and services does International House offer?

The Immigration Law Clinic provides legal advice and services to both immigrants and refugees as well as asylum seekers.  Three attorneys and a board accredited legal representative, who all specialize in immigration and naturalization, provide their expertise primarily to lower income individuals and families in the Greater Charlotte Area.  The Clinic charges flat fees for their services.  Some refugee and asylum seeker services are even free.  Fees are determined on a case by case basis.

International House also offers a variety of adult education programs.  These programs include both classes for English as a second language as well as more informal conversational classes.  In addition to learning English, many participants can also take classes that help prepare them for the U.S Citizenship process.

For the last three years, International House has partnered with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to provide the Rising Readers program.  This is a summer program that is available to rising first through third grade students enrolled is Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools.  With the assistance nearly seventy volunteers and teachers, students are provided with continuing English language study and practice.

International House doesn’t just offer assistance to immigrants though.  They also have a variety of clubs, classes, and events that are open to the public.  If you’re interested in learning more about other nationalities and cultures, you should definitely check out these programs.  International House is the perfect place to meet and make friends in Charlotte’s rapidly expanding international community.

As a non-profit, International House relies heavily on volunteers and donations from the Charlotte Community.  Are you interested in lending a hand?  There are a ton of opportunities to volunteer, so you can easily find something that suits your talents and that works with your schedules.  If you don’t have time to volunteer, consider making a donation to support all of International House’s wonderful programs.  No donation is too small.

Small Changes Have a Big Impact

As a non-profit serving a transitioning community of immigrants, International House needs a website that is friendly and easy to navigate.  Information needs to be accessible and easy to understand not only for immigrants, but for volunteers and donors as well.

Here are just some of the changes that we made.

Simple Design Elements

International House’s website was a couple of years old, and graphic design trends have certainly changed!  The new design has a clean and simple structure, which creates a far more modern appeal.

The old website packed a lot of information into a lot of small spaces. We broke up this information into more clearly designed pages to make the information easier to access.  We also incorporated more white space to make the site easier to read.  Plus, we added a lot of visuals to help break up the writing, so users don’t feel so bombarded by information.

Easier Navigation

Speaking of information, International House has a ton of information to offer!  We reconfigured the navigation bar in order to make it easier of visitors to find what they’re looking for more quickly  .We also simplified the navigation bar’s subheadings, making it easier to find information on specific services and programs.

Mobile Responsiveness

As more people are searching the internet on mobile devices such as phones and tablets, it’s imperative that a website be mobile responsive.  That means it needs to look great and work well on all mobile devices.  International House’s old website wasn’t mobile responsive, so we fixed that issue.  Now, the website performs beautifully on all mobile devices.

Friendlier User Experience

International House needs the support of the Charlotte community in order to help others prosper.  So we made it easier to find volunteer opportunities from any page of the website.  We also added a clear “Donate Today” to the top and bottom of every page, so if you don’t have time to lend your talents, you can still help keep International House up and running.

Final Thoughts

Since launching the new website, our friends at International House are thrilled with the results.  They even reached out to let us know that they’ve received a ton of compliments on the new website.  We are so proud to donate our services and time to providing this wonderful non-profit organization with a website that helps them to help our community.  It’s a website they (and we) truly love.

So what do you think of this website redesign for this awesome non-profit organization?  Are you feeling inspired?  Are you ready to revamp your own website?  Web Full Circle would love to work with you!
